The pectoral girdle. The pectoral girdle is a single entity positioned at the upper part of the trunk. In no way it is a pair of hemi-girdles amongst the majority of anatomists. The FMA is wrong to this respect, when it says that the pectoral girdle isa subdivision of skeletal system of upper limb. For these reasons, the pectoral girdle cannot be a part of the upper limb, which is a pair entity. It is clearly a non-sense to have a single entity part of a pair entity. The pectoral girdle is part of the articuloskeletal system, because it is essentially made of bones and joints. If it would be reduced to the skeletal system, it would of course be an hemi-girdle! And we have rejected above this hypothesis.Consequently, the pectoral girdle is a direct child of the articuloskeletal system. |
